Dermapen® 4 Microneedling

Dermapen® 4 at The Glow Lab

Collagen runs on a schedule.
Ours is 3 sessions, 4 weeks apart, and we hold it.

Dermapen 4 is collagen induction, so it works down where acne scarring, texture and firmness live. We numb you first, we map the sessions before session 1, and we keep peels 14 to 21 days clear so every visit builds on the one before it.

Open a stage

What your skin is doing after a session

One appointment triggers a response that runs for months. Here’s the whole arc, from the drive home to the version of your skin you’re working toward. Open a stage to see what’s happening down there.

The Dermapen 4 has made thousands of controlled microchannels, and your body has already read them as work to be done. The healing cascade starts in the chair. Growth factors flood the area and your fibroblasts get their instructions.

What you see is redness like a sunburn for 24 to 48 hours. We numbed you before we started, so the session itself was pressure and vibration more than anything sharp. Book a Thursday and you’re settled by the weekend.

We numb you firstRedness 24 to 48 hoursMakeup from day 3

The redness is long gone and the surface has settled. Underneath, your fibroblasts are building fresh collagen and elastin into the spaces where the channels were. Skin feels smoother and takes product better, because the barrier has rebuilt itself with new material rather than patched itself.

This is the window that makes the 4 week spacing matter. Come back too soon and a second stimulus interrupts the build you already paid for. We book session 2 at week 4, when a new signal adds to this one.

Session 2 at week 4Peels stay 14 to 21 days clear

3 sessions across 12 weeks is the therapeutic floor for collagen remodelling, and it’s where the structural change becomes something a scan can see. Scar edges soften, pores sit tighter, and the light stops catching your cheek the way it did in side-on photos.

Correction runs 3 to 6 sessions. 3 across 12 weeks is the floor we won’t go under, and a full 6 lands inside about 5 months.

$298 a session on the face3 is the floor · $8944 weeks apart

New collagen keeps forming for 3 to 6 months after every session, so the version of your skin you were working toward arrives months past your last appointment. That’s the honest timeline, and it’s the reason we scan you at the start and at the finish instead of asking you to judge it from memory.

From here you move to maintenance. Structure holds once it’s built, which is what separates collagen induction from a treatment that resurfaces the layer your skin was going to replace anyway.

If this sounds familiar

Why the texture never moved

Your tone is fine now. Your skin is clear now. And the surface still catches the light wrong in every photo taken from the side.

The marks you’re looking at sit below the layer everything you’ve tried has reached. Facials, serums and resurfacing all work on what’s on top. Scarring and lost firmness are structural, and structure gets rebuilt or it stays.

So you keep booking. You keep buying. You angle your face away from the window at brunch and you tell yourself it’s the lighting. Somewhere in there you decide the scarring is permanent and you start budgeting around covering it instead of changing it.

You tried the facial that had you glowing for a weekend.

You tried the serum with the clinical-looking dropper and the 12 week promise.

You tried one microneedling session at a discount and waited for something to happen.

Every one of those worked on your surface. Scarring lives under it.

One session is a start on a job that takes 3. A year of surface treatments is a year your collagen schedule hasn’t begun, and skin that’s losing firmness keeps losing it while you decide.

The mechanism

What the DP4 does that nothing on your shelf can

Dermapen 4 makes thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin. Your body reads them as work to be done and answers with collagen and elastin. That response is the treatment. The appointment is the trigger.

The DP4 oscillates on a vertical axis, so every pass goes in and comes out on the same line. Nothing drags sideways across your skin, which is the whole difference between a clinical device and the roller your cousin bought online.

That vertical action is also why we can work an even pass across the entire field. We numb you first, every session, without you having to ask, so we never have to ease off where you flinch.

Acne scarring, texture, large pores and fine lines across the face, and the neck when it needs it.

Those channels trigger your own production. New collagen keeps forming for 3 to 6 months after a session, which is why the calendar around the treatment matters as much as the treatment.

3 sessions across 12 weeks is the therapeutic floor for remodelling. We’ll book you one if that’s what you want, and we’ll tell you first that one session is a sample of the response rather than the response.

Structural change: scar depth, firmness, and the texture that survived everything you put on top of it.

Open channels let ingredients land where they can work. We use GlyMed Plus Restoring Fulvic Elixir as the glide for its hyaluronic acid concentration, so the product and the microchannels arrive together instead of one chasing the other.

It’s also the reason we hold acids away from a Dermapen 4 week. 2 resurfacing modalities on one barrier in 7 days sets your own results back, which is why a peel gets 14 to 21 days on either side.

Anyone who wants the actives doing something past the first millimetre.

One thing decides your outcome. Resurfacing changes the surface, and the surface renews itself every few weeks whether you treat it or not. Collagen induction changes the structure underneath, and structure holds. That’s why microneedling is what we reach for on acne scarring, texture and the first signs of laxity, and why 3 sessions is where we start counting.

How we run a microneedling series

6 rules we don’t bend

Most of these cost us money in the short run. They’re the reason your third session lands on skin that’s ready for it.

3 sessions is the floor.

3 is the therapeutic minimum for collagen remodelling. We’ll book you one session if that’s what you want, and we’ll tell you first that one session is a sample rather than a result. Correction runs 3 to 6, and every session is priced the same whether you book 3 or 6.

4 weeks apart, every time.

Your skin is still laying down collagen from the last session for months afterward. 4 weeks is the window where a new stimulus adds to that build instead of interrupting it. Closer than 4 weeks and you buy inflammation where you wanted speed.

Dermapen 4 and a peel get 14 to 21 days.

Never the same session, and never the same week. The Aerolase Neo Elite pairs with a peel in one visit at all 6 depths of the Glow Lab Peel Series, because a laser and an acid ask different things of the barrier. 2 resurfacing modalities on one barrier compete for the same recovery, so we space those.

We numb you first.

Every session, without you having to ask. It’s the single biggest reason people tell us this was far more comfortable than they expected, and it’s how we work an even pass across the whole field instead of easing off where you flinch.

Active acne is a lesion-level call.

The old rule against treating breakouts came from dermarollers, where a barrel dragged sideways carried bacteria across the skin. The DP4 goes in and out on one axis, so that risk doesn’t carry over. We treat the field and work around active pustules and cysts.

On pigment, your scan decides. We don’t.

Microneedling can trigger post-inflammatory pigment and melasma rebound, and the risk climbs at Fitzpatrick IV to VI. So in the Calm + Even Plan™ your midpoint Visia scan decides whether Dermapen 4 gets added at all. If your pigment hasn’t stabilised, you keep correcting and we revisit it.

Microneedling, Face + Neck

The part everyone forgets

The neck ages faster than the face and shows it sooner. Treating them together keeps the transition looking natural. Same protocol, same downtime, a much better long-term result.

Best for

The first signs of laxity and crepey texture. This is the version we recommend for most people over 35.

Aerolase Skin Rejuvenation + Microneedling

The fastest route to structural change

Our most complete session. The Aerolase works on tone, redness and pigment while Dermapen 4 triggers your own collagen and elastin, so one treats how your skin looks and the other rebuilds what it’s made of.

Best for

Scarring, texture and the first signs of laxity, in a series of 3 to 6.

We numb you first. Redness for 24 to 48 hours and light flaking around day 3. Keep it 14 to 21 days clear of any peel.

Aerolase Lower Face Tightening + Microneedling

Jawline and jowls

The laser heats deeper tissue and holds it there, which is the signal your body needs to build new collagen, while microneedling firms the surface. Results build across 3 to 6 months rather than showing up overnight.

Best for

A jawline that has started to soften, and anyone who wants to firm without injectables. A series of 3 to 6.

We numb you first. Redness for a day or 2 after each session, and the collagen answers across 3 to 6 months.

Honest fit

Who this series is built for

Book the assessment if

  • Acne scarring or texture has stopped responding to facials, products and resurfacing
  • Large pores and fine lines are the thing you notice in every photo
  • You’re over 35 and your neck started showing it before your face did
  • You want firmness back and you don’t want injectables to be the answer
  • You can give the plan 3 sessions across 12 weeks and let the collagen do the rest

Wait, or tell us first

  • You had a peel inside the last 2 weeks. Dermapen 4 and a peel take 14 to 21 days between them, so we’ll book you on the far side of that
  • You have melasma or pigment that hasn’t stabilised. Your scan decides whether Dermapen 4 gets added, and we’d rather run the Calm + Even Plan™ first
  • You’re in cancer therapy, or you have finished it. We need physician consent before we book anything
  • You’re pregnant or nursing. Tell us at booking and we’ll route you to something that fits, then start the collagen work after
  • You need to look your best inside 48 hours. Redness runs a day or 2, so we’ll pick a date on the other side of the event

Before you book

The questions we get most

Does it hurt?

We numb you first, every session, and that changes the whole experience. Most people tell us afterward that it was far more comfortable than they expected. You’ll feel pressure and vibration more than anything sharp. One of our clients described Britt as checking in with her the whole way through, which is what we’re aiming for.

What’s the actual downtime?

Redness like a sunburn for 24 to 48 hours, then light flaking. Makeup goes back on from day 3. Book a Dermapen 4 session for a Thursday and you’ll be settled by the weekend. If you’ve got something inside the next 2 days, take the date after it and we’ll say the same thing when you ask us.

How many sessions do I need?

3 is the therapeutic minimum for collagen remodelling, and correction runs 3 to 6, spaced 4 weeks apart. After that you move to maintenance. We’ll give you the number at your assessment along with the dates, so you know the full commitment before you pay for session 1. The timeline at the top of this page walks you through what your skin is doing between them.

How deep does microneedling go?

We set that in the room, and it changes across your face and across your series. Scar tissue on a cheek and the skin around your eyes ask for different settings, and where you are in the series changes it again. The mechanism is what stays constant: controlled microchannels, made on a vertical axis, deep enough to trigger collagen and elastin. Ask at your assessment and we’ll walk you through what we’re setting for your skin.

Can I do microneedling with a peel or with Aerolase?

The Aerolase runs in the same session. That’s the Skin Rejuvenation pairing at $439 and the Lower Face Tightening pairing at $399, and it’s how most of our plan clients run their series. A peel is the one that needs space. Dermapen 4 and a peel take 14 to 21 days between them and never share a visit, because 2 resurfacing modalities on one barrier in one week sets your own results back 6 weeks.

I’m still breaking out. Can I still do microneedling?

Yes, in most cases. The old rule against treating active acne came from dermarollers, where a barrel dragged sideways carried bacteria across the skin. The DP4 oscillates on a vertical axis, in and out on the same line, so that risk doesn’t transfer. We treat the field and work around active pustules and cysts. If your breakouts are still cycling hard, the Clear Skin Plan™ settles that first and brings Dermapen 4 in for the marks after.

I have melasma. Is microneedling safe for me?

Yes with conditions, and never as a default. Microneedling can trigger post-inflammatory pigment and melasma rebound, and the risk is highest at Fitzpatrick IV to VI. So we don’t make that call from a consultation chair. In the Calm + Even Plan™ your midpoint Visia scan decides. If your pigment has stabilised, Dermapen 4 gets added. If it hasn’t, you keep correcting and we revisit it.

What does the whole thing cost?

Microneedling on the face is $298 and face with neck is $329. The Aerolase pairings are $399 and $439. 3 sessions is the realistic floor, so a face series starts at $894, and a full correction of 6 on the face comes to $1,788 at the session rate. If you’d rather have it mapped and priced as one thing, the Strong Skin Plan™ is $2,450 and the Clear Skin Plan™ is $2,250, both with 2 VISIA Glow Report scans and $150 of product credit built in.

Face, or face and neck?

Face and neck, if you’re over 35. The neck ages faster than the face and shows it sooner, and treating one without the other leaves you with a line where the two meet. It’s $31 more and 15 more minutes in the chair. We’ll tell you at your assessment if your neck doesn’t need it yet.

Start the schedule

3 sessions, 4 weeks apart, is 12 weeks. There’s no shorter version of that

Collagen doesn’t hurry for anyone, which leaves your start date as the one variable you control. Book your assessment this month and your third session lands before the holidays, with the collagen still building through winter. Book it in the new year and you’re looking at the same result in spring, at the same price, for no reason beyond the wait.

P.S. If you had one microneedling session somewhere and nothing changed, that’s the sequence talking, and your skin did what it was always going to do with one. One session was never going to remodel anything. Bring what you remember about it and we’ll build you the 3 that will.
