WHY MOST LASER HAIR REMOVAL DISAPPOINTS

If you’ve done laser before and walked away frustrated, it wasn’t you.

It was the technology. Most laser hair removal in Canada still runs on diode and alexandrite systems built in the 90s. They work for one narrow skin tone profile. For everyone else, they under-deliver, over-cool, leave burn marks, or just don’t work. Here’s what no one tells you walking in.

01

Skin tone limits you can’t opt out of

Diode and alexandrite lasers target surface melanin to find the hair. If your skin has more melanin than the laser’s narrow tolerance, the surface absorbs the energy and burns. You get turned away, downgraded, or worse, treated unsafely and scarred.

02

The “avoid the sun for 6 weeks” rule

Because traditional lasers can’t distinguish your tanned skin from your hair follicle, you have to stay out of the sun for 4 to 6 weeks before every session. In BC, that’s your entire summer.

03

The pain that requires numbing cream

Diode lasers stack long pulses with cooling tips that don’t fully prevent the heat sink. Many clinics layer on topical numbing 30 minutes pre-session because the alternative is genuinely uncomfortable, especially on bikini, underarm, and face.

04

Six sessions later, still shaving

Hormonal hair, fine hair, light hair, and hair on dark skin all reduce poorly with traditional systems. You finish your “Series of 6” and still pick up the razor. The clinic blames your hormones. You blame yourself. Neither was the problem.

MEET AEROLASE NEOHAIR

One laser that doesn’t care about your skin tone.

Aerolase NeoHair is a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser system that doesn’t target surface pigment. It pulses for 650 microseconds, which is shorter than the time it takes for heat to transfer to the skin around the follicle. The energy travels through your skin, finds the follicle, disables it, and leaves the surrounding tissue untouched.

That’s the whole story. No skin cooling because there’s no heat to manage. No tanning restriction because the laser doesn’t see your tan. No numbing because the sensation lands closer to a warm rubber band snap than a burn.

  • FDA-cleared for hair removal on Fitzpatrick types I through VI
  • Treats face, body, fine hair, dark hair, and hormonal patterns
  • Safe on tanned skin and during summer
  • No numbing cream, no skin cooling, no downtime
  • Same-day return to work, makeup, sun exposure (within reason)

THE SCIENCE, SIMPLIFIED

Why 650 microseconds changes everything.

650 Microseconds

Shorter than skin’s thermal relaxation time

Your skin needs about 1 millisecond to dissipate heat. Aerolase pulses for less than that, finds the follicle, disables it, and is gone before the surrounding tissue absorbs the energy.

1064 Nanometers (Nd:YAG)

The wavelength that bypasses surface pigment

At 1064nm, the laser is invisible to epidermal melanin. It travels through your skin tone without interaction, finds the hair’s follicle and disrupts it directly.

VI Fitzpatrick Types Safe

One protocol, every skin tone

FDA cleared and proven safe on all six Fitzpatrick types. No tier-down for darker skin, no risk profile change. Same effective treatment whether you’re porcelain or deeply pigmented.

WHAT IT FEELS LIKE

Closer to a warm tap than a snap.

The #1 thing clients tell us after their first Aerolase session: “That was it?” Without skin cooling and without the stacked-pulse heat of diode, the sensation lands gentle. Most clients fall somewhere between “a warm pinch” and “a tap on the skin.”

You stay fully conscious. You can talk through the session. You don’t need numbing cream, ice, or anything topical. And you leave with no visible redness on most areas.

WHY THE GLOW LAB

Britt Paley, founder. Aerolase certified. Langley raised.

The Glow Lab is the only Langley clinic running Aerolase Neo Elite. Britt sought it out specifically because she was tired of turning away clients with deeper skin tones, tired of telling clients to avoid the sun all summer, tired of recommending numbing for what should be a simple treatment.

“Laser hair removal shouldn’t be a privilege of skin tone or season. I built The Glow Lab on the conviction that real results come from real technology and structured pacing. Aerolase is the laser that finally lets me say yes to every client who walks in.”

Every NeoHair treatment at The Glow Lab is performed by a certified Aerolase provider following the FDA-cleared protocol, with skin tone and hair density assessed at every consult. We don’t over-promise. We don’t under-treat. We build you a plan.

YOUR RESULTS TIMELINE

When you’ll see what.

01

Session 1 to 2

Treatment is gentle and quick. Within 2 weeks, treated hair sheds. New growth starts to slow. Skin feels softer.

02

Session 3

Hair reduction is visible. Density is noticeably lower. Shaving cycle stretches from days to weeks for most clients.

03

Session 4 to 5

The hair that’s left is finer, lighter, slower-growing. Many areas reach “forget about shaving” territory.

04

Session 6 + maintenance

Most clients reach 80% to 90% reduction. Maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months keep results, especially for hormonal areas.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

The Aerolase NeoHair FAQ.

Yes, and we mean it. Aerolase NeoHair’s 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength bypasses surface melanin entirely and targets the hair follicle directly. It is FDA cleared on Fitzpatrick types I through VI. No skin tone gets turned away at The Glow Lab. No tier-down protocols. The same effective treatment regardless of how much pigment is in your skin.
Almost every disappointing laser hair removal story we hear traces back to one of three things: the wrong wavelength for your skin or hair type, sessions spaced incorrectly for the hair growth cycle, or under-powered settings to compensate for skin tone. Aerolase NeoHair solves all three because its wavelength works universally, our protocol respects the 4 to 6 week growth cycle, and we don’t need to dial down for darker skin.
Most clients rate it 2 to 4 out of 10. Closer to a warm tap than a snap. We don’t use numbing cream because it’s not needed. You stay fully alert through the session, can hold a conversation, and leave with no visible redness on most areas.
Yes. This is one of the biggest differences from diode and alexandrite. Aerolase doesn’t interact with epidermal melanin so a tan does not change your treatment or safety profile. Get laser in July if you want.
The standard course is 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. This captures every hair in its active growth phase. Most clients see noticeable reduction by session 3 and reach 80 to 90% reduction by session 6. Hormonal facial hair may benefit from longer maintenance.
Aerolase NeoHair is particularly well-suited to hormonal hair because its longer-pulse 1064nm energy reaches deeper, vellus, and finer hairs that diode lasers often miss. Most clients with PCOS or other hormonal patterns add 2 to 4 maintenance sessions per year after their initial course. We’ll build the protocol with you at consult.
Yes. Shave the day before or the day of your appointment. Just don’t wax, pluck, or epilate between sessions because that removes the follicle the laser needs to find.
No. You can return to work, apply makeup, exercise gently the same day. We recommend avoiding direct prolonged sun exposure for 24 hours and skipping a hot tub for 24 hours, that’s the extent of it.
Single visits start at $79 per session for small areas. Our Series of 6 starts at $385 per area. Monthly memberships start at $119/month. The best value depends on which areas you want treated and how many. See the three paths above for full details.
