The Glow Lab
Dermaplane + Peel
Dermaplane + Peel
The smoothest your skin will feel all year. We remove vellus hair and surface dead cells with a blade, then treat the fresh skin underneath with a very superficial peel.
It's for clients who already love dermaplaning and want more from the appointment, and for event, wedding and photo prep.
Choose it when you want maximum glow from a single visit, booked 10 to 14 days out, never the week of.

Manual exfoliation first, chemical exfoliation second. This is our highest-impact single visit, and it is the smoothest your skin will feel all year.
Best for
- Clients who already love dermaplaning and want more from the appointment
- Event, wedding and photo prep
- Maintenance clients between series
- Dullness, rough texture and makeup that never sits right
- All Fitzpatrick types, I through VI
Before you can book this
You will need to have had dermaplaning on its own, and your chosen peel on its own, in previous appointments. We do not introduce two treatments at once. If something reacts, we need to know which one caused it.
Never had either? Start with a Dermaplaning Facial or an Essential Oxygen Regenerative Peel and we will build from there.
When we would pause
- Active inflammatory acne or pustules - the blade is not appropriate over them
- Accutane in the last 12 months
- Active cold sores, open wounds or sunburn
- Recent facial surgery, or cosmetic injectables in the last 14 days
- Active cancer treatment. A history of cancer requires physician consent and a minimum of two years in remission
- Pregnancy and nursing - use with caution, with physician consent, and only with a pregnancy-appropriate peel
The treatment
We remove vellus hair and surface dead cells with a blade, then treat the fresh skin underneath with a very superficial peel. Everything applied afterward penetrates better, and makeup sits differently for weeks. 60 to 75 minutes.
Which peel we use
Very superficial only - the Essential Oxygen Regenerative Peel or the Essential Peptide Perfection Peel, both at reduced dose. Our corrective-depth protocols are never paired with dermaplaning. The blade has already exfoliated. Layering a strong peel on top of that is how skin gets damaged.
Book it 10 to 14 days before your event
Not the week of. You want the glow settled, not fresh. This is the single most common mistake people make with event prep.
How often
Every four weeks at most. Vellus hair needs time to grow back before we blade again, and your barrier needs the same. This is a maintenance and occasion treatment rather than a corrective series.
Pairing with your other treatments
- Aerolase: can be performed in the same session as your peel, at every depth we offer.
- Dermapen 4 microneedling: we alternate these. Minimum 14 to 21 days apart.
- Injectables: no Botox or filler within 14 days either side.
The Glow Lab method
Stabilize. Correct. Refine. Maintain. This one lives in Refine.
Before you come in
- Have had dermaplaning and your chosen peel separately, in previous appointments
- Stop prescription Retin-A 7 days before, and avoid it for 7 days after
- Stop non-prescription retinol and AHA or BHA products 3 to 5 days before
- No waxing or facial hair removal for two weeks beforehand
- No Botox or filler within 14 days
During
The blade work is painless. Most people find it oddly relaxing. Then possible redness and tingling from the peel.
After
Little to no downtime, with slightly more sensitivity than a peel alone. Your skin will feel remarkably smooth immediately.
SPF is not optional for the next 7 days. You have no vellus hair and a fresh surface. There is nothing between your skin and the sun.
The first few days
- Reapply SPF every 90 to 120 minutes and stay out of direct sun
- Skip exercise and sweating for 24 to 72 hours
- Hold off on makeup for 24 to 72 hours, and wash your brushes before you use them again
- No active ingredients - retinol, AHAs, BHAs - for 3 to 5 days
- Keep the skin well moisturized
Why can I not book this as my first appointment? Because we would be introducing two treatments to your skin at once. If you reacted, we would have no way of knowing which one did it. Have each on its own first, then we combine them.
Will my hair grow back thicker or darker? No. Vellus hair grows back exactly as it was. That myth has been around forever and it is still not true.
When should I book it before a wedding or event? 10 to 14 days out. Never the week of.
Which peel do I get? The Essential Oxygen Regenerative Peel or the Essential Peptide Perfection Peel, at reduced dose. We choose together at your appointment based on how your skin is that day.
Can I have a stronger peel with it? No. The Essential 30% Glycolic and Lactic Peel and the Acne Peel Treatment are never paired with dermaplaning. The blade has already done a full layer of exfoliation.
How often can I have it? Every four weeks at most.
I have active breakouts. We will not blade over active inflammatory lesions. Book the Acne Oxygen Peel instead and we will revisit this once your skin has settled.
Can I have Aerolase the same day? Yes, in the same session. Dermapen 4 microneedling we alternate, a minimum of 14 to 21 days apart.
I am pregnant or nursing. Dermaplaning itself is fine. The peel portion is listed as use with caution, with physician consent, and we would use a pregnancy-appropriate protocol.
Refunds, returns and studio credit
All services, packages and memberships are final sale and non-refundable. Every treatment plan is customized and reserved specifically for you, which is why we do not refund services once purchased.
If you purchase a peel or package and we determine at consultation that it is not the right fit for your skin, the value may be applied as studio credit toward a more appropriate treatment. This is reviewed case by case, and it exists to support your results, not to limit your care.
- Studio credits have no cash value
- Studio credits are non-transferable
- They may be used toward future services, packages, memberships or retail products
- They are subject to expiration as outlined at the time of issue
Unopened, unused retail products may be returned within fourteen (14) days with proof of purchase, issued as studio credit only. Read the full policy at glowlabwellness.ca/policies/refund-policy.
