Acne Oxygen Peel
Acne Oxygen Peel
Salicylic acid, AHAs and oxygen, aimed straight at what's breaking out.
This is our entry-level acne protocol, the fastest way to do something about active congestion without committing to a full program. It calms inflammation, reduces oil and acne bacteria, and clears surface buildup, with no downtime.
Book it on your first visit. Not suitable in pregnancy or nursing, so we use the Essential Oxygen Regenerative Peel instead.

This is our entry-level acne protocol and the fastest way to do something about active breakouts without committing to a full program. You can book it on your first visit.
Best for
- All grades of acne, inflammatory and non-inflammatory
- Combination and oily skin
- Congestion, blackheads and clogged pores
- First-time peel clients - no prior peels or prep period required
- All Fitzpatrick types, I through VI
What it does
- Salicylic acid kills bacteria, reduces oil and slows dead cell shedding
- Oxygen reduces acne-causing bacteria
- Lactic acid clears surface buildup and hydrates
- Brightening and pore refinement alongside the acne work
Not for you if you are pregnant or nursing
This one contains salicylic acid, so we do not use it during pregnancy or while nursing. Book the Essential Oxygen Regenerative Peel instead. It does much of the same work without it.
When we would pause
- Accutane in the last 12 months
- Active cold sores, open wounds or sunburn. Active acne lesions are fine
- Recent facial surgery, or cosmetic injectables in the last 14 days
- Active cancer treatment. A history of cancer requires physician consent and a minimum of two years in remission
The treatment
A salicylic acid cleanse first, to reduce oil and acne bacteria. Then a layered oxygen and lactic acid solution goes to work on inflammation and congestion. The solution self-neutralizes, so nothing is timed off with force. 45 to 60 minutes.
Why there are no extractions
No steam, no hot towels, no squeezing. That is deliberate. Manipulating inflamed skin is how acne gets worse and how marks get left behind. If you need decongestion, that is a HydraFacial or an Aerolase NeoClear visit. HydraFacial is booked separately. NeoClear can be added to the same appointment as your peel.
How a series builds
6 to 8 treatments, two weeks apart, increasing from 1 to 2 layers up to a maximum of 4 as your skin earns it. Then monthly maintenance. Once you handle four layers comfortably, we can progress you to the Acne Peel Treatment.
Pairing with your other treatments
- Aerolase and NeoClear: can be performed in the same session as your peel, at every depth we offer.
- Dermapen 4 microneedling: we alternate these. Minimum 14 to 21 days apart from your peel.
- HydraFacial: booked as its own appointment.
- Injectables: no Botox or filler within 14 days either side.
The Glow Lab method
Stabilize. Correct. Refine. Maintain. With acne we stabilize first, and this is the protocol that does it.
Before you come in
- Stop prescription Retin-A 7 days before, and avoid it for 7 days after
- Stop non-prescription retinol and AHA or BHA products 3 to 5 days before
- Tell us about any oral acne medication you are taking
- No waxing, tanning or sunburn in the days beforehand
- No Botox or filler within 14 days
During
Redness, tingling or itching. Active lesions can sting more than the rest of the face. That is expected and it passes quickly.
After
Redness, and mild flaking or dryness over the next few days. No real downtime. Wear your SPF.
The first few days
- Keep sun exposure to a minimum and reapply SPF every 90 to 120 minutes
- Skip exercise and sweating for 24 to 72 hours
- Hold off on makeup for 24 to 72 hours, and wash your brushes before you use them again
- Hands off your face. No picking, no squeezing, no matter how tempting
- No active ingredients - retinol, AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide - for 3 to 5 days
- Keep the skin well moisturized while it flakes
Will I purge? You may see things surface in the first week or two. That is congestion coming up, not new acne. It settles as the series goes on.
Do you do extractions? Not during a peel, on purpose. Squeezing inflamed skin is how you end up with marks. Book a HydraFacial for decongestion, or add Aerolase NeoClear to this same visit.
Can I book this while pregnant or nursing? Not this one - it contains salicylic acid. Book the Essential Oxygen Regenerative Peel instead. That protocol is listed as use with caution, with physician consent.
Do I need prior peels first? No. This is an entry point. No prep period, no prerequisites.
How many will I need? 6 to 8, two weeks apart, then monthly maintenance. Acne responds to consistency, not intensity.
What comes next? Once you are comfortable at four layers, the Acne Peel Treatment is the next step. That one is gated - it needs 1 to 3 very superficial peels behind you first.
Can I have Aerolase the same day? Yes, in the same session. Dermapen 4 microneedling we alternate, a minimum of 14 to 21 days apart.
I am on Accutane. We need 12 months clear of it before we treat. Come see us when you get there.
I have a history of cancer. We do not treat during active chemotherapy or radiation. With a history, we require physician consent and a minimum of two years in remission.
Refunds, returns and studio credit
All services, packages and memberships are final sale and non-refundable. Every treatment plan is customized and reserved specifically for you, which is why we do not refund services once purchased.
If you purchase a peel or package and we determine at consultation that it is not the right fit for your skin, the value may be applied as studio credit toward a more appropriate treatment. This is reviewed case by case, and it exists to support your results, not to limit your care.
- Studio credits have no cash value
- Studio credits are non-transferable
- They may be used toward future services, packages, memberships or retail products
- They are subject to expiration as outlined at the time of issue
Unopened, unused retail products may be returned within fourteen (14) days with proof of purchase, issued as studio credit only. Read the full policy at glowlabwellness.ca/policies/refund-policy.
